Sr. Systems Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the architecture and network planning for the design and implementation of network components for our Home Networking Solution. The candidate will analyze third party and in-house components and systems, providing end-to-end system design guidance, cost and performance forecasting and optimization. The candidate will work closely with Senior Software Developers and testers and participate in the design and deployment processes.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Experience with capacity and reliability modeling
• Experience modeling and estimating end user behavior
• Experience interacting with developers and tracking system performance through development and deployment
• Experience with commercial software development
• Entrepreneurial drive and the ability to excel within an informal startup environment with a flat organizational structure
• Demonstrated ability to deliver on time.
• Ability to achieve a high level of performance by setting clear expectations
• Capability to perform quantitative analysis.
• Knowledge of SQL databases and Enterprise Java Beans performance.
• Knowledge of the Linux operating system performance.
• Knowledge of Clustering & Load Sharing.
• Curiosity.
• Previous experience with one of the following: billing systems, OSS systems or provisioning systems.
• BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering discipline with 5+ years system engineering, design or test experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Modeling system capacity, reliability and performance with Microsoft Excel.
• Forecasting system cost using engineering models.
• Able to program using at least one of the following: Awk, Perl, or Python.
• Able to program using at least one of the following: Java, C++, C or Visual Basic.
• The ability to automate data gathering and analysis work.
