Vice President of Marketing

Andy Melder joined Prodea Systems in March 2008 as Vice President Marketing. Prior to Prodea Systems, Melder was at Intellon, the market leader in HomePlug powerline technology, as SVP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development and SVP of Strategic Business Development.  He was an executive member of the leadership team that brought the company public in 2007 (NASDAQ: ITLN). With more than 25 years of experience in the communications industry, Andy has a proven record of technology company growth and successful exits for its investors.

Andy is a recognized expert in the communications, consumer electronics, content developer and smart grid markets and a frequently sought commentator on industry issues. He has spoken at a wide variety of venture and financial summits, educational forums, industry conferences, service provider forums and trade shows.

He is viewed by Wall Street as having a rare blend of skills that cross multiple disciplines, providing an ability to translate technically sophisticated concepts into easily understood financial metrics.

Prior to joining Intellon, Melder was Chief Operating Officer of Clarisay, Inc., a developer of uniquely manufactured integrated modules for the cellular handset market. Andy was also a founding member of Microtune, Inc., (NASDAQ:TUNE), a developer of broadband, wireless RF and analog-intensive integrated devices, which targeted the automotive, home networking and consumer electronics markets.
 
During his tenure at Microtune, Melder was Vice President of Sales & Marketing and later, Vice President of Business Development. Part of his responsibilities included identifying new technology platforms for the company’s strong RF and mixed-signal core competencies, as well as corporate growth through the identification of strategic merger and acquisition opportunities. While at Microtune, the company expanded its presence in the cable infrastructure and home markets, as well as the wireless networking and consumer electronics sectors.

Additionally, Andy also served as Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Corporate Business Development of Tripath Technology, Inc.  He was also a management team member, which led the company to its IPO in 2000. He was the Director of Business Development of Cirrus Logic Inc.’s (NASDAQ:CRUS) graphics business from 1995 to 1996, through an acquisition of Pixel Semiconductor, where he was also Director of Business Development.

He holds a BSEE/Business from Carnegie–Mellon University, and a MSEE/Operations Research from Southern Methodist University
